“Million Deaths of Lt. Mazula” Finale: This Death Just Might Be Final #SciFi #FreeNovel #FreeSciFi #AlienAbduction #AlienInvasion

Talk about a perfect soundtrack for the season finale… What a song, gut wrenching, deeply melancholic, and ominous. You just know, that something is bound to happen…

mazula pp.pngTwo hours later I was crying, kneeling on a beach of plastic sand facing methane ocean with thick slow-motion waves, as if made of honey. I cried watching the red marble of the alien sun slowly rolling to the horizon. Unkari evening was approaching, and I was left alone to digest what had happened for the past two hours. The beach was deserted, but there was no point in running.

This foreshadow was written in the Episode 9, when Mazula just began unfolding the mysteries of Unkari, the aliens who were about to execute him as a prisoner of war.

In the Episode 12 (p.1), Mazula finds out more about Unkari’s long and treacherous history with humans, and that his only way out of the death sentence is to have a terminal tumor implanted in his brain.

Silence like a cancer grows

Sing Simon and Garfunkel.  Silently, cancer grows in Mazula’s brain.

“In the naked light I saw

Ten thousand people, maybe more,

People talking without speaking,

People hearing without listening,

People writing songs, that voices never share,

And no one dare

Disturb the sound of silence…”

There is the lost tribe of humans, kidnapped by the aliens and raised on Lenauri, millions of them, who are no more than silent shadows of the people they could be, without names, without history and without the future.

Soon, Katu day will come, and with it, the blood will be shed. Extermination will be carried out with the sounds of slain human flash. Children of humanity will be wailing and fading away. The sound  will be so loud and terrifying, that it might just as well be silence. Silence, because nobody would hear them.

What’s going to happen next? As I am writing the final episode, I am listening to “The Sound of Silence”, and feeling unsure about Mazula’s future. His next death just may be final.
